Sales Engineer Job at TEM-Total Environmental Management, Inc., Phoenix, AZ

  • TEM-Total Environmental Management, Inc.
  • Phoenix, AZ

Job Description

Total Environmental Management, Inc. (TEM) seeking a relationship-focused Sales Engineer to develop new business and help grow our presence throughout the Phoenix market. This technical sales role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting customers and uncovering opportunities, developing customer-first solutions, and building relationships from the first conversation through project completion.

The Sales Engineer will be based in our Phoenix office. You will have the opportunity to help shape a growing market while receiving training and support from a company with more than 40 years of temporary HVAC experience.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Play an important role in growing TEM’s Phoenix market presence and customer base.
  • Receive hands-on training and support from TEM’s experienced Sales and Operations teams to develop TEM’s signature HVAC temp solution knowledge.
  • Work on a wide range of technical applications rather than selling a one-size-fits-all product.
  • Help bring TEM’s 40 years of temporary HVAC expertise to a growing Arizona market.

What You'll Do

  • Generate new business through proactive prospecting, targeted outreach, referrals, networking, and in-person customer visits.
  • Build trusted relationships with mechanical contractors, facility managers, property managers, building engineers, and other key decision-makers.
  • Conduct job walks, assess customer requirements, and help develop customer-first turnkey temporary HVAC solutions.
  • Represent TEM at industry associations, networking events, trade shows, customer meetings, and relationship-building activities.
  • Prepare accurate estimates, proposals, job-walk documentation, and project information while maintaining an organized and current sales pipeline in TEM’s CRM.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Dispatch, Accounting, and Marketing to support successful project execution.

What We're Looking For

  • The selected candidate must be available to report to TEM’s Southern California corporate office for an initial period of onboarding and hands-on training (strong presence in CA over the first 30-45 days, or DOE).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in sales, HVAC, construction, equipment rental, or a related industry.
  • Three to five years of equipment rental or business development experience in the Phoenix market is preferred.
  • Strong prospecting, relationship-building, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to interpret plans or drawings and translate customer needs into practical equipment solutions.
  • Experience preparing estimates, proposals, or project documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with CRM and electronic field-documentation systems is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working in both office and active jobsite environments.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

Position Details

  • Location: Phoenix, Arizona
  • Initial training: TEM’s Southern California corporate office
  • Schedule: Typically begins at 8:00 a.m.; hours may vary based on customer and project needs
  • Classification: Exempt
  • Travel: Local travel throughout the Phoenix market, with initial travel to Southern California for training
  • Physical requirements: Ability to navigate customer facilities and jobsites, climb stairs or ladders, and lift up to 25 pounds
